SPANISH & ART 2016
This year students
in grades 1 to 6 are part of the CLIL program.
The students will
learn art skills and techniques while improving their Spanish.
Ms Borelli (The
Arts teacher) and Señorita Garcia (the Spanish teacher) will work together in
the class enabling the students to learn Spanish for two hours a week.
TERM 4
After 3 terms of Visual Arts/Spanish, this term we are having Performing Arts/Spanish.
We are learning many new drama skills while we practice Spanish.
Last week 1/2A performed the play LA GALLINITA ROJA ( The Little Red Hen) in Spanish at assembly. It was FANTASTICO!

TERM 4

TERM 3
During term 3 we have been very busy getting ready for our BETHAL ART SHOW.
It was a fun afternoon with lots of parents attending.
TERM 2
Grades 5/6 's 3D project inspired by Van Gogh's Sunflowers and Bedroom at Arles.
5/6 A students working on their Frida Kahlo's canvas.
Grades 1/2 have also learnt about Vincent Van Gogh. Have a look at their paintings inspired by The Sunflowers.
5/6 B has been working really hard on this giant canvas inspired by the art of Vincent Van Gogh. There are more canvas coming by 5/6 A and 5/6 C.
Grade 5/6 students are learning about the Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh. We have started with Starry Night. Some have chosen to use paint and others oil pastels to create their version of Starry Night.

TERM 1
This term students
are learning about the famous Mexican portrait artist Frida Kahlo. Students
have been developing their drawing techniques of RETRATOS (portraits).

We have been learning about traditional Mexican Folk Art. Inspired by this art and the bright colours used, we are now painting our own design.

TERM 3
This term instead of Visual Arts, we are doing Performing Arts! We will sing, dance,perform and play instruments while we continue learning Spanish. We are all very excited!

Grades 1/2 have made their own puppets. Some have chosen the Spanish Flamenco dancer and some the Mexican guitarist. Once the puppet were finished, we had a go at creating our own play in Spanish!!

Grades 3/4 have made a different type of portrait. They have used the map of Spain and the map of Australia as the shape of their faces. Then, they have added the portrait features.

COLLAGE WITH FABRIC
Nos hemos convertido en disenadores y estamos trabajando con telas de diferentes estampados y texturas para crear un collage de una ciudad. Hemos estado aprendiendo sobre la arquitectura de Antoni Gaudi y nos hemos inspirado en sus edficios coloridos y con formas organicas para crear nuestro collage.

HABIA UNA VIEJA QUE TRAGÓ
Grades 1 and 2 have been working with the story THERE WAS AN OLD LADY WHO SWALLOWED A FLY in Spanish and in English. They have done lots of fun activities with this story.
Now we are learning the song in Spanish and soon we will perform it at school assembly.
SPANISH & ART 2014
This year 1/2 students are being part of a new program at Bethal P.S where they will have art delivered in Spanish. Miss Borelli ( The Arts teacher) and Señorita Garcia ( the Spanish teacher) will work together in the class. 1/2 students will be exposed to the Spanish language two hours a week.
TERM 1
In Term 1, we have learnt about Pablo Picasso and we have enjoyed making our Picasso portraits. Have a look at our Picasso display! :)

TERM 2
This term grade 1/2 children will be participating in the European Languages Festival. Children will explore Spanish language and culture through art and musical performances. The event will take place on the 9th of May at the National Gallery of Victoria (city of Melbourne).
We are all looking forward to this event! :)
ANIMALES
This term we are learning about animals in Spanish and we have learnt the song 'EN LA GRANJA DE MI TIO' ( Old McDonalds had a Farm)

EN LA GRANJA DE MI TIO
EL SEÑOR CHICKEN VIAJA A ESPAÑA
This term we have been learning about Leigh Hobbs' book Mr. Chicken goes to Paris.
After reading the book, we have created our own version called EL SEÑOR CHICKEN VIAJA A ESPAÑA. We have had lots of fun reading about Mr.Chicken's adventures in Spain.

TERM 3
This term we are learning about Antoni Gaudi, a Spanish artist and architect. Gaudi's work is all around Barcelona. We have created our own mosaic inspired by Gaudi's famous dragon in Park Guell.
