Spain and Australia, are we that different?

Dear friends from Concepción Arenal:

In term 2 we have learnt about the differences and similarities between our community and the community of your school in Spain. We have learnt a lot of new vocabulary in Spanish and we have investigated the question, ‘Australia and Spain, are we that different?’ We would like to share our work with you.

Queridos amigos:

Last month children from Bethal Primary School sent letters, pictures, posters and a koala bear as a symbol of Australia, to our sister school in Spain. We are so excited as we have just received a package from Spain. The sister school sent maps and tourist information of Spain, students’ work and a teddy bear named Pelusín. In a letter they wrote, they explained that in the mountains around the sister school there are many brown bears so they decided to send a teddy as a symbol of their school. We really enjoyed reading their letters and the work they prepared for us.

                               ¡GRACIAS!

Hello friends from Bethal School,
Last week the groups of year 1 and 2 went to visit an Orujera to learn how Orujo is made. Orujo is made with the remains of pressed grapes in a traditional way. The lady in the orujera was very nice and she explained to us all the distilling proccess.
Here we show you some pictures.

Easter Hat Parade

Dear friends from Concepción Arenal,
The 27th of March we celebrated the Easter Hat Parade at Bethal Primary School. Boys and girls from grade prep, one and two paraded with their various hat designs in front of the whole school. They made their hats in their classrooms with the help of students from grade 5 and 6. It is common to celebrate an Easter Hat Parade in schools in Melbourne just before Easter. After the parade, Easter Bunny visited the school and brought chocolate eggs for all of us. We would like to show you some pictures. We hope you like them.
Cheers :)

Harmony Day

Hi friends from Concepción Arenal,

Last Thursday Bethal Primary School celebrated Harmony Day.

Harmony Day is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. It is a day to celebrate that we all live peacefully being part of the same community.

In Harmony Day we all dressed in orange. The children made kites throughout the week and we all enjoyed flying the kites in the swirly wind. We had lots of fun!

After flying the kites, the whole school was entertained by our wonderful school choir singing ‘Imagine’. All classes worked hard throughout the week to prepare a presentation within their classes based on the theme, “Many Stories-One Australia”. The highlight of the morning was when the whole school community came together to sing ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me”.

It was wonderful a wonderful day! Children, staff and parents had so much fun.

We want to show you some photos :)

Hola amigos del colegio Concepción Arenal,

El pasado jueves Bethal Primary School celebró  Harmony Day.

You’ve Got a Friend in Me”.

Padres, profesores y alumnos lo pasamos genial.

Espero que os gusten nuestras fotos :)

Un saludo
